FATS, OILS AND GREASE (FOG)

Sewer System – Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG)Shannon Whitehead2020-12-01T22:22:56-07:00

Cooking grease is one of the primary causes of business and residential sewer line blockages that often result in sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) from manholes or backups.

In addition to being extremely costly to clean up, the overflows create a potential for property damage and can lead to significant environmental, health and safety risks.

The Water Authority routinely inspects Food Service Establishments (FSE) for compliance with the SUO and its FOG Policy.

The River Is Ours (RIO) Fieldtrip Registration

RIO Is Back for Another Year!

The Water Authority believes that if students experience the beauty and understand the complexity of the river ecosystem, they will want to conserve and protect our water resources.  That’s why we take all APS fourth-graders on the RIO Field Trip. We even pay for the bus.

APS schools are notified in spring of the date(s) they are scheduled to attend the RIO Field Trip the following year. If you have questions about the date(s) your school is scheduled to attend, please call Jeff Tuttle at (505) 289-3027 or email jtuttle@abcwua.org.

Please fill in this form to confirm that your school will be able attend on the date(s) you are scheduled to attend.
